There are two possible aesthetic or medical drainages: both will be done in the same way.
Aesthetic lymphatic drainage will treat the lymphatic, venous, and adipose systems with an association of rolling palpation. This will result in light legs less encysted by the adipose system. Medical lymphatic drainage will treat of either primary or secondary lymphedema.
This will be done in the same way as the aesthetic lymphatic drainage but without palpating rolling. The method is gentle and a bandage or a contention will be associated with it to help the return of the lymph into its larger system. It must be understood that the lymphatic system is slow, therefore a number of long sessions is necessary to obtain a satisfactory result.
Procedure of manual lymphatic drainage: the lymphatic drainage begins at the level of the neck on the nodes above the keyboard continues at the level of the belly and then begins from the root of the affected limb towards the end.
Call and resorption maneuver on the limb being treated and the return is done by manipulations in the stomach and the system is closed with stimulation of the ganglion above the supaclavicular nodes. This protocol is called Vodder and the result is very satisfying, we have been doing it for more than 20 years.
Since 2000 I have been working with Dr. Becker who performs lymph node transplants to prevent the degeneration of lymphedema associated with lymph node hypoplasia. I offer a treatment that combines Dlm and bandages.
This is a new technique that can be considered with lymphedema - contact the practice to find out more.
